Where we work

Specialists, not generalists.

We focus on four UK sectors where energy is a serious cost line and the savings are big enough to matter. We don't dabble in offices and warehouses — we go deep where we can help most.

The process

A free health check. Not a sales pitch.

No engineers. No downtime. No upfront cost. You stay in control — we only switch if you agree the savings are worth it.

01

Bill review

Snap a photo or upload a PDF of your last bill. Two minutes, no commitment, no credit check.

02

Identify savings

Within 24-48 hours we send a plain-English breakdown of where your energy money is going and what you could save.

03

Your decision

Review the findings. Ask anything. There's no obligation — if the savings don't stack up, we walk away.

04

Switch if agreed

If you say yes, we handle the paperwork and switchover end to end. You start paying less.

Your bill, explained

UK business energy bills are deliberately confusing. Most operators have no idea what they're paying for. Click each line below to learn what it means, what's negotiable, and where the overcharging usually hides.

Unit rate

The price per kWh of energy you actually use.

This is the single largest line on most UK business bills and the line where overcharging is most common. When your contract ends and rolls onto a "deemed" or "out-of-contract" rate, this number can double overnight — and most operators never notice.

The market price moves daily. Your contract locks in a rate. The gap between the two is where good brokering matters.

Where we save you money: We monitor wholesale prices and renegotiate before your contract auto-renews. Average reduction on unit rate alone: 25-40%.

About us

Local roots. Serious energy expertise.

Switchgrid is a trading name of TulipTech Ltd, working in partnership with Assured Energy to help UK businesses cut their energy costs.

Switchgrid pairs TulipTech Ltd — an established Leicester technology business — with Assured Energy, a specialist UK business energy consultancy and Patron of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce. Together we bring 125+ years of combined energy industry experience to every audit.

We're not a regulated energy supplier and we don't sell energy. We act on your side of the table: reviewing your bills, comparing the market, and only recommending a switch when it genuinely saves you money. You pay nothing — we're paid by the supplier when we find you a better deal.

Both businesses are based at Friars Mill, Bath Lane, Leicester — proper Midlands roots, with a service built for independent UK operators.

Common questions

FAQs from UK business operators.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often from restaurant owners, care-home managers, hoteliers and bakery operators.

Is the audit really free? How does Switchgrid make money?
Yes — the audit is free and there are no hidden costs. Switchgrid is paid a commission by the energy supplier when a customer successfully switches to a better deal. If we can't save you money, we don't make money. You're never invoiced for the audit itself.
Will switching suppliers disrupt my business?
No. Switching only changes the company that bills you — your physical energy supply, meters and equipment are untouched. There are no engineer visits, no service interruption and no downtime. Your kitchen, refrigeration, heating, hot water and lights continue working exactly as before.
How long does the energy audit take?
Send us your most recent energy bill (a photo or PDF is fine). Within 24-48 working hours you'll receive a plain-English breakdown of where your money is going, what you're overpaying, and what you could save. From there it's your decision — there's no obligation to switch.
I'm locked into an existing energy contract. Can you still help?
Usually yes. We can either pre-arrange a better deal to start when your contract ends, or look at a 'blend and extend' tariff — where the supplier lowers your unit rate now in exchange for extending the contract by 12 or 24 months. We work within existing contracts, not against them.
Is Switchgrid a regulated energy supplier?
No. We don't sell energy. Switchgrid is a trading name of TulipTech Ltd, working in partnership with Assured Energy — a specialist UK business energy consultancy. We compare the market on your behalf and only recommend a switch when it genuinely saves you money.
How is Switchgrid different from a price comparison website?
Price comparison sites typically cover a small list of partner suppliers and ignore industry-specific factors like VAT relief, Climate Change Agreements or seasonal trade patterns. Switchgrid compares 30+ UK energy and water suppliers and applies industry-specific knowledge — care-home reduced-rate VAT, hotel seasonal occupancy, bakery CCA eligibility, restaurant peak demand.
Can you handle multi-site businesses or chains?
Yes. Multi-site operators often unlock significantly better rates through pooled negotiation. We work with groups from 2 to 50+ sites and consolidate scattered contracts onto common renewal cycles. Larger groups have more leverage with suppliers.
Do you handle water as well as gas and electricity?
Yes. Water deregulation in England means business customers can choose their water retailer (the company that bills you). We compare UK water retailers alongside energy suppliers in every audit.
Can you provide renewable or green energy tariffs?
Yes — we can include renewable and lower-carbon tariffs in every comparison. Green tariffs are now competitive on price, so cutting costs and cutting carbon can usually go together.
What information do I need to provide for an audit?
Just a recent energy bill is enough to start — it contains your account number, current unit rate, supplier and contract end date. If you have multiple meters or sites, send a bill for each. We don't run a credit check and we don't share your data outside the audit process. UK GDPR rules apply.
